NEW PANEL FOR HIRING TEACHERS (DSC)

The state government will set up an exclusive recruitment board for teachers on the lines f the police recruitment board.Currently recruitment of teachers is done by District selection committees (DSCs) with district collectors heading the respective committees apart form district education officers as members. The state government has recently approved filing up of 50,063 teacher posts, the largest ever recruitment drive in the sate.

The department of school education is of the opinion that a separate teacher recruitment board will help in conducting such massive recruitment drive efficiently. This will enable officials to issue a state-wide common notification, conduct of exam, announce results, personal interviews and the release the final list of selected candidates.

with the current mode of selection at district - level, the recruitment process lacks uniformity as some districts were racing ahead while some are lagging behind due to reasons such as work load on respective collectors and DEOs.

The new system will do away with relying on district collectors and DEOs for recruitment.
we have sent the proposals to the government on setting up of teachers recruitment board. The file is with the Chief Minister's office and we expect to get the nod soon. Said a senior official of the school education department.

Meanwhile, the uncertainty over the release of mea DSC notification continues even after nearly two months since the cabinet approved the filling up of 50,063 posts.
The issue of promotions and transfers to teachers has become a bone of contention as it is not possible to fill up the posts without knowing the exact number of vacancies after the promotions and transfers.

The minister for school education, Mr Damodara Rajanarasimha, said they will take up the t
ransfers and promotions in the last week of November.
